My brows used to look like a hot mess back in the day. I’m far from saying that they look perfect now, but for the first time I can say that I’m happy and satisfied with how they look. I managed to even out the shape, and grow some hair where there were none, which was the worst part for me. I’ve always been tweezer happy and get seriously annoyed with any teeny tiny hair so have been plucking for years. All I can say is, with brows, just as some other beauty related regimens, it takes time, it’s a process but it’s definitely worth it in the end.
There are few things that helped me get it back into shape and are now helping me maintain it and make them look fuller and more even. First is Anastasia’s BH Brow stencils, on which I have a full post, so read it Here, if you’d like to know more about them. Second, the very famous and loved my millions Brow Wiz pencil. I’ve been using Brow Wiz for almost two years now and could not be happier. I love the shape, the very thin tip and the selection of shades available. It ticks all the boxes for me. So I’ve been very apprehensive to try ABH Brow definer, but curious as I am, my apprehension didn’t last too long.
I’ve heard and read very mixed reviews on this product ever since it came out. What made me buy it, is the fact that number of my favourite YouTubers, whom I trust when it comes to beauty recommendations, were really quite impressed with it, so I decided to give it a try. I bought it about two months or so ago and it’s been sitting in my drawer since then. All I could think was, no I shouldn’t have bought this, I’m not going to like it, it’s too wide, too large, too whatever…Until I tried it.
Yes it needs a bit of getting used to if, like me, you’ve only been using Brow Wiz or NYX Brow pencil (also excellent and much cheaper, just sayin…) type of product. This one is wider and it takes a bit different way to manoeuver across the brow to achieve the desired effect, but at the same time, once you try, you’ll notice that it’s much quicker and final effect is just as perfect if not a bit better, dare I say…
Brow Wiz at the bottom, Brow Definer at the top
The tip is shaped almost like a triangle and so it gives you an option of using the thinner side for more precise work, such as front part of the eyebrow, and then allows you to use the thicker end to shape across it all the way to the tail of the brow. I was honestly amazed at how quick and easy I found it to use. Beside the fact that the one I currently have is just a bit too dark in shade for me (I had dark hair at the time), I find that the intensity of colour can also be controlled and the pencil is soft enough to allow you to do so, but not too soft so as to leave small chunks between the brows (Pet peeve situation!!). Comparing the two, Id’ say Brow Wiz is just a bit harder than Brow Definer, but both give a really good control over the intensity.
Similar to Brow Wiz, this one also has a spoolie on one end but it’s a lot thicker than the brow wiz, which to be honest makes no difference to how well it performs. If your brows are very very thin, then I’d say stick with something like Brow Wiz or NYX Brow Pencil, they’re both the same shape. NYX is brilliant too, and much more affordable, but has less shades to choose from. If you have medium to full brows, then either thin Brow Wiz or thicker Brow Definer will work beautifully on you. It’s just a matter of getting used to a different shape and slightly adjusting hand movements when filling the brows. I’m not a brow expert by any means, but even I found it very easy and quick to use first time round.
This one is definitely here to stay. I have nothing negative to say about it. It applies really fast, looks very natural and never overdrawn, stays put all day long, and makes my brows look fuller and well groomed. Shade selection is the same as Brow Wiz, so everyone can find their match for the most part. It is pricy, but then again all ABH brow products are a bit more expensive. To be honest, after countless amount of months trying to grow my brows to somewhat presentable and acceptable (by both me and the society) shape, I think I can allow myself this little bit of a splurge. Excuses, excuses, I know…but admit it, it’s a good one… xxx
