How to have long, healthy hair, Amy Mia Goldsmith

How to have long, healthy hair – tips and tricks by Amy Mia Goldsmith

Let’s be honest. It’s great having long hair. It’s much easier to style, with more possibilities of up do’s, pony tails, etc. But as much as some of us prefer, and really like having their hair longer, well I surely do, it requires a lot of maintenance to keep it strong, healthy and shiny whatever style we choose. I am the first one to put my hand up and admit that, as much as I like my hair longer, I don’t always treat it the right way. There is many simple things that we can all do, and that with time, will make a massive difference to the overall appearance of our mane. Today on MagsfactorBeauty I welcome Amy Mia Goldsmith, who very kindly offered to do a guest post and tell you all about some tips and tricks on how to keep you long hair healthy. Amy, thank you ever so kindly for your contribution and over to you.

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of having long, healthy hair and wearing it in intricate braids and elegant buns. Sadly, my hair wouldn’t grow as fast as I wanted it to, and just when I thought I was getting somewhere, I would notice my split ends and had to cut off a part of it again. It seemed like I would never fulfill my childhood dream, but I decided to give it one more try before I quit growing it forever. Miraculously, I noticed positive changes after only a couple of weeks.

Mac Neutral eyeshadow palette

MAC Warm Neutral ready eyeshadow palette – review and swatches

I have been staring at this palette for the longest time, knowing at the back of my mind that sooner or later I’m going to cave anyway. And what do you know…It suddenly appeared in front of me when I was looking for something else… (that’s a complete lie, but let’s get on with it…) and so I eventually decided that I do need it in my life and can justify it because… it’s neutral.

We all seem to do that apparently. I asked on Instagram recently if anyone else buys makeup, be it shadows, or lipsticks, and justifies it by the fact that it is in neutral, therefore wearable on a daily basis, it somehow becomes acceptable and justifiable. Never mind the fact that we gather a tonne of neutral everything, but that’s ok. Right?

Autumn / winter perfumes

Autumn / winter perfume selection, which scents I’ve been loving this season

It’s getting really cold out there, it’s darker, the leaves are falling and this hot morning coffee on the way to work isn’t just a caffeine shot anymore, but a pretty good hand warmer that I tend to hold on to for dear life…And as I’m typing this, I have a large blanket wrapped around me, cup of hot tea and I’m hugging a hot water bottle…Yes, I Am That Cold. That’s when you know it’s time to put all short sleeves and light clothing away in favour of chunky scarves, winter jackets and some cute booties. Same goes for makeup and perfume.

It’s a great time to replace light, summery makeup with something more substantial, heavier, autumnal and darker in colour. So all coppery, burgundy, dark brown eyeshadows are making a comeback in my makeup collection and it’s the best time to finally make use of all those dark, plummy, oxblood, or other darker lipsticks that have been patiently waiting for their time to come. But today I want to tell you about my perfume selection and how I transition from summer scents to much more potent autumn / winter perfumes, as well as which ones are my favourite for this coming season.

Mac Lipsticks favourites

My favourite MAC lipsticks – review and swatches

When I think of MAC products in general, it immediately reminds me of when I was young (er) and about to start exploring the crazy world of makeup.  It was one of the first brands that I gravitated towards, probably because there was every eyeshadow colour that I could possibly imagine at the time, and every lipstick shade that I could think of in one place, right in from of me, and it just felt like a playground….and it still does to this day… some things never change.

I have gone through some shadows, some lipstick, powders and other MAC items in the past, most of which I would thoroughly recommend and some of which I still repurchase. But, over the years I switched on to some other brands as well, simply because it’s hard not to, being surrounded by so many of them. Having said that, one of the products that I will always be using, and going back to MAC for, are their lipsticks.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque lipsticks

Bourjois Rouge Edition AQUA Laque – review and swatches

Whenever I want to try a new lip product, or any other makeup product for that matter, I always chose the safe option of a nude, natural shade. That’s because I know I’m more likely to use it on every day basis. I test the ground and then either explore further or not so much, depending on initial thoughts.

It was exactly the same case here, with this new Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque liquid lipstick. I had a few of the Rouge Edition Velvet some time ago and I really liked them, so seeing this one is meant to be better for dry lips, which is definitely for me, and more on a hydrating side, I though this is going to be a winner.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators new

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators, review and swatches

Just as I was looking for a nice new highlighter, these became available in UK and I was not going to miss the chance of trying them knowing how sought after they are and how fast they will be gone. As much as we, in UK, do have some access to Anastasia’s products, probably the best ones are still available only in America, so as much as I was staring at Instagram photos, I wasn’t really having much hope of ever seeing these highlighters in person, but courtesy of Cult Beauty (Thank you!!!!) here they are!!

When you get the choice of four shades and you just so happen to like all of them, it can easily get out of hand and you end up with all 4 boxes delivered in the mail, preferably for next day delivery, as you just cannot wait any longer, right? No? Just me then. So I decided to be wise-er (on this occasion) and limit myself to two. One just simply wouldn’t do it, but two seemed like a fair medium.
