Lipsticks, along with foundations and other cream products tend to intimidate me a little. These are usually items I try to be very careful not to go overboard with and resist the temptation (we all know by now that I have little to no self control when makeup is concerned). I know it should ideally apply to every single makeup item, but I just don’t feel the same way about powders. Sure, all makeup items have shelf life and sure, we should always pay attention to that, but in principal, we can get away with using powder products for much longer than cream or liquid.
I recently cleared out a lot of my lipsticks (still very far from lacking in lipstick department) and I know it shouldn’t be an excuse, but I shamefully allowed myself to purchase some new lippies recently. Let’s face it, it so easy to throw new little cute lipstick bullet into the cart or shopping basket, right? Especially if they’re ones you’ve always wanted to try, the colours that you like or the brand that you love. That’s why I can never resist Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. They’re just simply amazing.
I already own a few lipsticks from the brand and really enjoy using them all, so I knew I would get plenty of wear out of these. For someone with dry lips more often than not and someone who likes to snack a lot during the day (guilty as charged) I really like how comfortable they feel on the lips and how long they wear. They’re not drying in the slightest, even used without a lip balm underneath and I find that they last considerably long through eating and drinking.
The two shades that were released recently as Limited Editions caught my eye not because of that reason, but because they are just simply shades that I like to wear on a daily basis. In fact, they’re shades most of us would enjoy wearing daily. Nothing too dark or too heavy, easy to apply, perfect for work, running errands and other day to day activities. The rose gold, simple design bullets look beautiful and add a touch of luxury to any makeup bag.
I will be focusing on the two limited edition shades here, but I know they may not be widely available ay more. I think you can still buy one of them on Charlotte Tilbury website (if you’re quick) or in their Covent Garden store in London. Having said that though, it’s not only these two shades I recommend and I’ve been singing praises for these lipsticks for a while now because I think what Charlotte Tilbury came up with is by far one of THE best lipstick formulas I have ever tried. The colour selection in general is beautiful from nudes to vampy darks.
If you’re not familiar with Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, there are two formulas called Matte Revolution and K.I.S.S.I.N.G, both of which have a selection of 10 shades each. Both formulas are enriched with Lipstick Tree and Orchid Extracts for hydrated and soft lips, as well as mixture of waxes and oils for easy and effortless application. They both also have the same, beautiful rose gold lipstick bullet.
I have to say, Matte Revolution is the most comfortable matte formula I’ve ever tried. It feels velvety more that matte, doesn’t dry out my lips at all, I don’t feel the need to top it up with any lip gloss or other product for extra hydration and it lasts ridiculously long. Absolutely amazing!!! I’ve had ‘Red Carpet Red‘ for a while now and although not my usual every day shade, I have been thoroughly enjoying it, probably more that any other red lipstick I’ve ever owned. Limited Edition shade called ‘Between the sheets’ (as seen on the pic above) is a beautiful, subtle, petal pink, which will look gorgeous with a very neutral eye or full on smoky for a night out.
K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula is more moisturising, giving a subtle, healthy sheen. The light-difusing pigments reflect the light back making lips look fuller with added luminosity. My favourite shades from this line are ‘Nude Kate‘ and ‘Penelope Pink‘ which are part of permanent collection, as well as this new limited edition shade called ‘Kiss Chase‘, which is described as soft berry (as seen on the pic above). Although a bit darker than ‘Between the sheets’, it’s still perfect for every day wear and will go beautifully with any makeup.
These shades may still be available, and if they are, grab yourself one (or both, why not!!) of these beauties. Even if they’re not, I’m sure you will find a shade or two in permanent collection. If you’re looking for a long lasting, seriously pigmented, very comfortable and moisturising lipstick, look no further. You can’t go wrong with them. They are expensive, at £23 but absolutely worth every penny.
